Ericsson Executive Joins Utilicom Advisors

For Immediate Release

Utilicom Advisors LLC, the Washington, D.C. boutique corporate and investment advisory to telecom, utility and technology companies, announces that Mark Burke has joined as Managing Director, effective immediately.

“We formed Utilicom Advisors this year to address a demand for seasoned advisory services to assist companies in the development of wireless broadband services and related technologies in the U.S.” said Utilicom Managing Director and former Federal Communications Commissioner Harold Furchtgott-Roth.  “Mark Burke is among the top advisors in the U.S. on telecommunications technology and related business strategy.  Importantly, he may be the most experienced and trusted advisor in the U.S. to electric, gas and water utility companies on broadband and telecom technology matters. His insight on the role that telecom plays in the industrial control market, and his trusted relationships in the utility markets will be invaluable to Utilicom Advisors.”

For twenty years Mr. Burke has been considered a thought leader in utility telecommunications, serving most recently as Vice President, Energy and Utilities for Ericsson. There he led Ericsson, the world’s leading provider of equipment and services to telecom companies around the world, in its development into the U.S. utility market.  Before that, he led global services for utility telecommunications for KEMA, the global energy consultancy, including after its acquisition by DNV GL.

“Mark is probably the preeminent advisor in the U.S. on telecom and broadband issues to the utility sector,” said Utilicom Managing Director Dana Frix. “It’s that simple. We could not be more pleased that he agreed to join us.  He has a sterling reputation among the most important people in the utility industries.  It is fitting that we are able to announce this development the same week as the DistribuTECH conference.“
